Star Power is a nationwide non-profit organization aimed at providing happiness and improving the cognitive skills of students with special needs. Our primary objective is to inspire our stars to discover the endless wonders of the world, reinforcing the belief that it is never too late to embark on new journeys. Star Power's mission is to give our stars the opportunity to engage in experiences they may have never envisioned before. Through our various activities surround tennis, we hope to see our stars sharing their ideas and creativity through projects and fun interactions with everything around them.
Amy has 9 years of tennis experience and 3 years of coaching experience. She had the highest ranking of 99 in the nation and 19 in the state of California. Her and her team, Cerritos team tennis, was the finalist in the Junior Team Tennis Nationals Championship, She is the top 1 player in her high school tennis team and won the league championship without losing a single match. Amy has 3 years of experience coaching a child with autism and works closely with the school’s club that serves students with disabilities.
Our teachers and coaches are experienced with years of teaching experience. We are selected from our tennis skills on and off the court. All of us have gone through sessions of training that are specifically designed to support the success of our stars.
All of our programs are completely free alongside all the equipment that we will provide. Our stars have the wonderful opportunity to participate in our tennis lessons without any cost, as we supply them with high-quality t-shirts and rackets at no expense.
Star Power promotes belonging and community among our stars, fostering connections between students with special needs and their peers/coaches through teamwork and interactive activities. We strive to create an inclusive community that values and celebrated everyone's unique abilities.
Designed to promote physical fitness, personal interest, and the opportunity to explore, our tennis program combines professional coaching with a supportive and inclusive environment. Regardless of their previous experience, our experienced coaches, selected for their expertise in both tennis and teaching, provide guidance and personalized instruction tailored to each star's abilities. Our coaches with experience working with kids with disabilities, employ adaptive techniques and modifications to ensure that every student can fully participate and enjoy the benefits of tennis.
Our curriculum is carefully crafted to cater to the unique needs of our students with disabilities, prioritizing clear and concise methods of instruction.
Our 2-hour long lesson focus on fundamental tennis techniques, hand-eye coordination, and motor skills development. We provide all the necessary equipment, including tennis rackets and comfortable merch attire, so our stars can fully immerse themselves in the sport without any additional cost. Each coach will have at most 2 stars to ensure that our stars receive personalized attention and feels empowered to give their best performance.
Our annual mini-tennis competition is a thrilling opportunity for our stars to put their hard work to the test. Through friendly matches on modified courts that are perfectly suited to their needs, this event focuses on creating a fun atmosphere where stars can participate and enjoy the excitement of competitive play. It's not only about the matches; it's also an opportunity for our stars to bond, make new friends, and be part of a supportive community. Every star is a winner.
Our stars will have the chance to design and craft their very own tennis balls from scratch. They will be provided with all the necessary materials to create their personalized tennis balls and showcase their unstrained ideas. Our coaches will be there to assist, encourage creativity, and ensure that each star's DIY tennis ball is a reflection of their unique style.
